5 Runners Including the First Woman Ever Complete the 2024 Barkley Marathons

What Is the Barkley Marathons?

The Barkley Marathons is an ultramarathon trail race held each year in Frozen Head State Park in Morgan County Tennessee United States. The race is known for its extreme difficulty and low completion rate. The Barkley Marathons is 100 miles long with 60,000 feet of elevation gain. The race has a 60-hour time limit and runners must complete 5 loops of the course in that time frame. The course is marked with orange flags and runners must find their way through the rugged terrain without the use of GPS or other electronic devices.

The 2024 Barkley Marathons

The 2024 Barkley Marathons was held on October 20-22. A total of 40 runners started the race and only 5 were able to complete the course within the 60-hour time limit. The five runners who completed the race were:
