Yo soy Betty la fea (English: I am Betty the Ugly One), often referred to simply as Betty la fea, is a Colombian telenovela created by Fernando Gaitán. It aired on RCN Televisión from October 25, 1999, to May 10, 2001.
The telenovela stars Ana María Orozco as Betty, a highly intelligent but unattractive economist who works for a prominent fashion company. Despite her appearance, Betty is a kind and compassionate person who gradually wins the hearts of her colleagues and eventually the love of the company's president, Armando Mendoza (Jorge Enrique Abello).
Yo soy Betty la fea was a huge success in Colombia and has been adapted into numerous other languages and countries. It has been praised for its positive portrayal of an unattractive protagonist and its exploration of themes such as love, beauty, and self-acceptance.
