Kevin Kiermaiers Walk Off Triple Wins It For Rays

Kevin Kiermaier's Walk-Off Triple Wins It for Rays

Rays Defeat Blue Jays 6-5

Tampa Bay, Fla. - Kevin Kiermaier hit a walk-off triple in the 10th inning to lead the Rays to a 6-5 win over the Blue Jays on Friday night.

Kiermaier's triple scored Isaac Paredes from second base and gave the Rays their third walk-off win of the season. It was Kiermaier's second hit of the game, as he also singled in the fourth inning.

The Blue Jays had tied the game in the ninth inning on a two-run home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but the Rays came back in the 10th to win it.

With one out in the 10th, Paredes singled off Jays reliever Tim Mayza (0-2). Kiermaier then came to the plate and hit a 1-2 pitch to deep center field. The ball landed just out of the reach of Bradley Zimmer and rolled to the wall, allowing Paredes to score easily from second.

The Rays bullpen was solid in relief of starter Shane McClanahan, as five relievers combined to allow just one run on four hits over the final five innings.

The win was the Rays' fourth in a row and moved them to 22-15 on the season. The Blue Jays fell to 18-19 with the loss.
